What does SEO actually do for an electrician?

SEO means getting your business found on Google for the work people plan ahead: solar, switchboards, data cabling, commercial fit-outs.

People compare those jobs. Emergencies go to the three business listings at the top of Google and the ads. Planned work goes to whoever Google keeps showing them.

What the data says:

  • Australians make about a million searches a month to hire an electrician (1,040,090 as Semrush lists them). Just 6% carry emergency wording

  • searches naming the job add up to 204,500 a month, while emergency wording comes to 59,850

  • the other 75% is generic, electrician plus place name; the three business listings show first, then a page on your website for each suburb

  • a page for each of those jobs can get found on its own. The clicks cost you nothing

Counted from 12,975 electrician searches, every figure on how many people search for an electrician. Semrush AU, pulled 8 September 2026. This is SEO for tradies for one trade, built on a website built for electricians.

How showing up on Google behaves, drawn as a shape rather than a measurement: not much movement early, then it climbs and keeps climbing.

SEO services for electricians

What we build first, in the order the national data argues for. Your suburbs get their own numbers before we commit.

  • Your Google listing

22,200 searches a month for "electrician near me", decided by the three business listings at the top of Google. That is the local SEO section further down, and it comes first.

  • Commercial electrician

2,900 searches a month at difficulty 8. Show the fit-outs, the maintenance contracts, the compliance work, the sites you’ve already run.

  • Solar

Two wordings pull 1,180 searches a month between them. People want the electrical story: the switchboard, the metering, who actually turns up.

  • Data cabling

320 searches a month at difficulty 6, the easiest on this list to get found for. Often a builder or office manager searching, so show fit-outs, not switchboards.

  • Switchboard upgrades

Solar, EV chargers and big appliances all land at the switchboard eventually. 260 searches a month at difficulty 8. The quiet workhorse of the website.

  • Lighting

260 searches a month, difficulty 6. One page catches LED changeovers, outdoor and sensor work, then splits into separate pages once it earns the visits.

See both halves for yourself.

"Electrician near me" gets 22,200 Australian searches a month. "Commercial electrician" gets 2,900, and nobody types that one in a blackout.

Eight of the 12,975 searches in our count. The top three rows are the urgent side (near me, emergency): decided by the three business listings at the top of Google, which your Google listing and reviews win. The rest name the job up front, the searches your website gets found for. Some "commercial electrician" searches are job hunting, not hiring. KD is difficulty out of 100, lower is easier; CPC is the price of one ad click, which being found on Google lets you skip. Source: Semrush AU, pulled 8 September 2026.

Ads and the three business listings at the top of Google catch the urgent jobs, your website catches the planned ones. How that divides up for every trade is on marketing for tradies.

Local SEO for electricians

Local SEO means getting found on Google by people near you. When the power is out, they ring one of the three business listings at the top of Google, not a website. Here is what that side of the work covers.

  • Your Google listing

The free listing Google gives your business. We set it up with the suburbs you cover, every job you take listed as a service, real hours and photos of real jobs. It is what the emergency search finds first.

  • Reviews after every job

Someone with no power picks from the three listings, and recent reviews decide it. We build the ask into finishing each job.

  • Your licence gets checked

Victoria, NSW and Queensland each publish a register anyone can search, and tell people to check. What they find online has to line up.

Energy Safe Victoria, Service NSW, QLD Electrical Safety Office, 2026.

  • They search when the power goes out

Across the whole set of searches, 59,850 a month carry emergency, after-hours or power-outage wording. Nobody waits until Monday.

    580 emergency, 24-hour, after-hours, urgent and power-outage searches. Semrush AU, pulled 8 September 2026.

Why work with us.

Plenty of agencies sell marketing to tradies. Here's what's different about how we do it.

  • A track record you can check

Our clients are named on this website with their real numbers, so you can see what we've actually done before you spend a dollar.

  • We target what the data says

How many people search, what a click costs, how hard the search is to win: a switchboard upgrade page gets checked before it gets built. Guesswork doesn't get billed.

  • Plain-English reporting

Each month we tell you what we did, what changed, and what's next. If a number goes backwards, we say so and say why.

For every size of trade business

Being found on Google solves a different problem at each stage. Find the crew that sounds like yours.

  • 1-3 on the crew

    Starter

Word of mouth fills most weeks, then one falls over without warning. Showing up on Google flips it: work starts finding you.

  • 4-9 on the crew

    Growing

A quiet week now costs wages, not just your time. Steady enquiries from Google let you plan the roster instead of patching it.

  • 10+ on the crew

    Established

The name's already known. Now every search in your area should end at you, with daylight back to second.

No fine print. No lock-in. No surprises.

You're trusting us with how your area finds you. Here's what that comes with.

  • No lock-in contracts

Month to month. You stay because the work is coming in, not because you signed a 12-month deal.

  • We won't work for your competitor

One trade, one area, one business. If we're getting you found, we won't turn around and do the same for the operator down the road.

  • You own the work

Your Google listing, your reviews, your pages. Everything the retainer builds stays in your name and keeps working if you ever leave.

  • One point of contact

You deal with one person who knows your account. Ask a question, get a straight answer.

Getting found starts with a chat.

One phone call starts it, and you see the full plan before you commit to anything. Four steps.

  1. Reach out

Tell us the services you want more of and the areas you cover.

  2. We check where you stand

Where you show up on Google today, what your Google listing looks like, and your ads, sized up against the electricians you compete with.

  3. We build the plan

What's worth your money and in what order, in plain English. You sign it off.

  4. We get to work and report

Pages go live, we track where you show up, and each month you see what moved in a report you can actually read.

Electrician SEO questions?

See if we answered it below.

How many people search for an electrician?

About a million searches a month in Australia from people looking to hire an electrician, once every suburb, job, "near me" and emergency search is added up (1,040,090 as Semrush lists them; Semrush AU, pulled 8 September 2026). Every figure behind that, job by job and suburb by suburb, is on how many people search for an electrician.

What is SEO for an electrical business?

SEO means getting your business found on Google. Some people call it electrical SEO or electrician SEO, and it is the same thing. For an electrical business that is a page for each service, honest answers to what people search, and technical clean-up behind the scenes, so when someone searches for a commercial electrician or a switchboard upgrade in your area, you're the result they open.

Which electrical jobs does SEO win?

The planned ones. Solar, switchboard upgrades, data cabling and commercial fit-outs, where someone compares before they commit. Each of those is its own search, so each earns its own page. That's how a small electrical business ends up showing up for a dozen different jobs at once.

How long until an electrician shows up on Google?

Plan on a few months before real movement. Google has to find each new page, work out what it answers, and decide it belongs above websites it already trusts. There's no shortcut through it, for you or your competitors. Once you're through, though, the position is yours to hold.

How much should I expect to pay for SEO?

SEO money buys pages, content and the work of earning Google's trust, so the price follows your market. It usually lands in the low thousands a month for a small electrical business, less in quieter areas. You'll have the exact figure before anything starts, with no lock-in attached. The full breakdown is in our guide to SEO costs.

Can SEO win the emergency call-outs too?

Not through the website alone. Someone standing in a dark house picks from the three business listings at the top of Google or the first ad they see, so that side of your week is won or lost on your Google listing and your reviews. That is the local SEO part of this page, and we run it alongside the website work, not instead of it.

What are the three businesses at the top of Google?

They are business listings, not websites. Every business can have one on Google for free, and Google calls it a Google Business Profile. Search "emergency electrician near me" and the three at the top, with the stars and the call button, are the ones Google trusts most in that area. They take most of the calls for urgent electrical work.

What's the difference between local SEO and regular SEO?

Local SEO is about your Google listing: getting it into the three at the top for nearby searches, on the back of your reviews and the suburbs you list. SEO is about your website: getting it into the list of websites for everything else people type, like "ev charger installation cost" or "switchboard upgrade", well past the suburbs next door. They help each other, and we do both.

How many areas can I show up in?

Google lets a mobile business list the suburbs it covers instead of a shopfront address, and that's what most electricians should do. Keep it to suburbs you genuinely take jobs in, up to about two hours out. Padding the list with far suburbs you never work reads as spam to Google and can drag the whole listing down.

Do you do local SEO for electricians?

Yes. Local SEO means getting found on Google by people near you, and for an electrician that is your Google listing, your reviews and the suburbs you service, set up and kept moving so the after-hours and emergency searches find you. We do it alongside the website work, never instead of it.

What SEO services do you offer electricians?

A page for each job you want more of (solar, switchboards, data cabling, commercial fit-outs, lighting), the technical clean-up behind the website, your Google listing and reviews for the local side, and a plain monthly report. The six build items on this page are the list.

Do I need an SEO agency, or can I do it myself?

You can do it yourself if you have the hours. The work is a page for each job you want more of, your Google listing kept up to date, reviews asked for after every job, and a monthly check on what has changed. An SEO agency for electricians does that for you while you are on the tools, and shows you the numbers each month. Either way, the pages, the listing and the reviews stay in your name.

Should an electrician start with SEO or Google Ads?

For the emergency work, ads first. Someone with no power picks whoever is at the top, and Google's top-of-page range for an "emergency electrician" click is $6.18 to $40.76 (Google Keyword Planner, AU, July 2026). SEO is the slower half, and the one you stop paying per click for.

Does SEO actually work?

Our results are named on this website with real numbers. Quick Mick's Plumbing sits on page one for around 40 searches, bringing about 10 new clients a month with no ad spend, and Mr Loo's website reached page one for 66 searches purely from the SEO built into a one-off rebuild. This page is the same playbook, aimed at electrical work.
